One of the complaints about Firefox is that it is a memory hog. Well, this isn't a memory leak as some people claim. It seems, rather, to be a configuration issue. To fix this on the majority of machines do the following.

    1. Type "about:config" in the address bar and hit enter.

    2. Browse to the "browser.sessionhistory.max_total_viewers" setting and change the setting from -1 to 0 (zero). Do this by right clicking the line and choosing "modify".

    3. Close and reopen your browser, then check memory usage for Firefox.

On my computer memory usage dropped from an average of 150 megs of ram to less than 30 megs of ram with multiple tabs open.
