OK It is about time I took backing up data seriously and I need a central storage point.
My desktop PC is in the bedroom so It get's turned off in the night.
I use my laptop a fair bit of the time downstairs.
What are your opinions on this Lacie
for a central point of storage. I know it is expensive (£50 more than minus the ethernet but I need an external hard drive anyhow.
My point of thinking is that if the upstairs PC is off (missus asleep) I can still access data on the network storage point because my router is on all the time :D
    What are your views

Sounds like a good idea to me. Data backup is a very important thing to do, you don't worry about it till the day your hard drive crashes and you loose two years worth of stuff, then you really wish you had done something before it was too late! That looks like a top bit of kit, I like the fact you can just plug it into your router and have network wide access.
