If this is the one I think it is - this is a well known 'misdirection'.

The show recorded was a spoof one, and not part of the main series.

A little search on google should get more info.

From what I can remember, it was filmed in 1978 and was the "Rainbow" producer's entry for the Thames TV Xmas competition. The producers from the network's TV series/programs were invited to submit a funny spoof version of their program. Rainbow won the competition with that excerpt. Apparently it was shown at the Thames Xmas party etc etc blah blah...

 

That makes good sense actually, Drum. However on a slightly different theme, how do the makers of Captain Pugwash explain away "Master Bates" and "Seaman Stains" ?

 

Easy - that's is another set of 'facts' that don't actualy exist!
