Can i insert a name or description where the column letter is normally displayed? On a very long spreadsheet with lots of data it is a bit of a bummer having to scroll up to check you have inserted the right part!

you could just add a header row then use the window > split menu command, that way the headers will stay in place when you scroll

Don't think you can in Excel?

I tend to put the column headers in Row 1 (or whichever one is relevant) then use Freeze panes to lock them at the top of the screen.

and to add to Nelix - if you want to freeze both column and row so you want to Column A to be static and row 1 to be static, you will need to click on B1... sorry im not being pedantic, its just that it took me ages to figure that part out

Boyce, if you put your headers in the 1st row, you can then go to the right side and at the top of the scroll bar you'll see a little line. Click on this and drag it down and then you'll have a split view.
