Hey Missy, can you verify that that is the exact error code being encountered, as I can't get anything on it so far.

Have a look at ModemHelp.net for more info - specifically THIS page.

    HTH :)

Also found THIS from the Eggheadcafe. Dunno if it helps ...

EDIT: And THIS (about half way down)

First thing I'd suggest is to delete then recreate the mail account in Outlook. If that doesn't help - set the account up in Outlook Express and see if the error is still encountered.

Let us know what happens :)

The outgoing mail server for wanadoo is smtp.wanadoo.co.uk. So you will need to redo settings for that part at least.

You can get wanadoo settings from here .

    Oops, 14th August.

Note to self: Check dates in future :)

I initially wondered about that myself Neall, but with Outlook being Outlook, it actually refers to the mail account by the first server entered (eg pop.wannadoo.co.uk in this instance) therefore, when referring to either pop or smtp errors, it references the account as pop.wannadoo.co.uk - aka bloody unhelpful when trying to get users to give you accurate info.

And it was the 30th Sept, m8

Hi guy's, this is what I recieved today from my friend.
    Thanks.
I don’t usually give up, but on this one I have.
Outlook is part of MS Office suit of programmes Word, Excel etc, separate to Windows XP.
But explorer started to loose it’s Icons so did the desktop, the search programmes failed so I cured it with a complete new install.
Now Freeserve is packing up so will try that.

    Cheers Missy

I wasn't trying to point up any faults in your post (that achieves nothing) - just clarifying things, m8 :thumbleft
