    Seems to be more and more BCS Members here at Certforums so just wondered what the numbers were really like for the BCS and other professional organisations.

    Vote in the poll and detail in the thread if you belong to an "other". I've made it so you can vote for more than 1 item in case people have multiple memberships.

    I belong to the BCS (for IT), CMA (for Telecoms), IfL & CSTA (for teaching as a lecturer) and I got an unofficial yes to the CGA (for vocational education, waiting for written confirmation). Will be looking into joining the ILM by the end of the year.

    While certs are great, but unless you're deemed as cheating to get them, they won't be taken away. Joining of a professional body, especially at a higher level (eg CITP, ICTTech, etc) shows that you've reached a certain level. And this can be taken away.

    I belong to the BCS and CMA. I'm currently a Professional Member of the BCS and going through the process of becoming a Charterd IT Professional. I am merely an Associate with the CMA. Cheers, Jim

    MBCS for me, on a side note I saw a job posted this week that asked for an MBCS, maybe it is worthwhile after all!
