my friend is still on dialup with aol and has an unusual problem which is sporadic
when online a box pops up and says (you failed to answer an incoming call) and then disconnects him and then reboots his computer he has norton antivirus which is up to date and windows xp home could this be a virus as a scan by norton picks nothing up

Install, update and then scan your computer.

This program kicks arse at finding viruses/spyware/mailware etc!

I believe this program compares files and such to an online database to see what the files are. If it doesn't recognize them it flags it up... if its known spyware then it warns you. Pretty much what 'Hijack this' does but this is an automatic process.

 

Does he have "call waiting" applied to his line? Some modems are set to interrupt when this happens. It shouldn't reboot the computer though!
