So I have the following laptop faults at the moment and looking for opinions / suggestions.

Dell Inspiron 1545, battery not charging, tried a different battery and still doesn't charge. The laptop does power on with just the charger though so is not thought to be a charger fault.

Same fault with the Dell Latitude D530

... would a bios update potentially fix this?

Never seen a BIOS update that makes a laptop battery work again.

Could be faulty connectors inside the laptop battery bay. Check they're not twisted, dirty or perhaps disconnected (i.e. they have too much flex or sway when you attempt to move them with a tip of a pen or toothpick).
