Ok, after two Fails of the 70-680 (505 and a 622), I have booked it again for two months time.

I am using CBT Nuggests, Professer Messer, and IT free training.

I have built an 2008 R2 ADDS, and have 4 VM's with 1 with Vista, 1 with XP and two with 7.
I am planning on going through all the videos segment by segment, so:

    CBT installing Windows,
    Messer installing Windows,
    IT Free Installing Windows.

Does anyone have any tips? I was looking to take it again in September but I was so frustrated by the last score that I have just kept putting it off.

    Thanks

Try to cover all the angles. If there's a task that can be done using the command line, group policy and via the GUI, then make sure you're comfortable with each method. Learn what all of the command-line switches are for, not just the most basic ones. I spent a loooong time studying for this exam and completely lost heart a few times. I managed to pass first time, but even just a few questions into the exam, I felt woefully underprepared.

Good luck this time around :)

    Thanks Mono,
Really determined to pass this as I really want to move onto the 70-686.
Done a Migration using WET and USMT yesterday and will be going through the Microsoft book again today.

Will be going through the Free Windows 7 training (Section 1) to see how much I have taken in.

    Fingers crossed :)

    Thanks,
    Ron

Sure you will murder it mate, you were really close on the last attempt. This exam will be ancient history soon we've all failed at least one. Keep the pressure on yourself and stay positive. You'll have an idea of the kinds of thing you'll be asked now although if you're like me your mind will go blank as soon as you walk out of the testing center ha ha but try to think back to the kinds of questions you were asked, the kinds of scenarios and images you had displayed.

    Very best of luck mate

Great stuff mate, you could say that while its been painful it could work out well in the end with you knowing the course content at a much deeper level now that you are on the course. One thing I was going to say is that the material you've used previously might not be capturing your interest as much as it should have, so I'd of maybe tried another book, but I'm sure that's all irrelevant now you're on the course so definitely going to kick its teeth in :)

Cheers JK, hope your right :)
Still have two weeks so going to Document as much as possible, as well as do some Lab work.
Using Messers again, Pliuralsite at the moment and will try and get some CBT nuggets in all before the course.

The Girlfriend has even said she will do the dinner AND dishes allowing me more time to study. Result ;)

    Hi Guys,

Just got back from the QA Course and found it really insightful.

Have the exam booked for 6 weeks from now which should give me LOTS of lab time. I also have the 70-686 course on the 16th March so hopefully that will push some extra knowledge in!!

    Cheers

70-686 definitely pushes more on the Enterprise side of things, SCCM, MDT, WSUS etc. I loved the 70-686 exam, really brings home the Enterprise side of things.

I must admit, I am really looking forward to it.
Hopefully, it will also put me in good stead for the 70-680 exam as well.

Is it just me or does everyone feel really unprepared when exams are approaching?

I have the 70-680 booked for 3 weeks time and I just feel SO under-prepared.
Using Professor Messer, TrainSignal and SkillPipe (From the QA course). I am using the Practice Exams that came the official MS Book and I have also bought Trainsignal tests.

I am doing a practice exam per chapter (Once I have covered it in Messer's & Trainsignal) I do a review test. So far, I have covered the first two modules and although I have taken this exam twice before, I just really don't feel ready.

Maybe its just one of those days.

Go over the listed topics for the exam mate, ask yourself do I know a bit about each. Not everything but you should know something about all of it

I was the opposite for this exam - I'd spent so long studying that I was overconfident really. I was brought back to Earth after about 5 questions ;)

With practice exams, I always feel like it's dangerous doing too many. If there are only a limited number of questions, there comes a point where I realise that I'm just remembering the answer instead of working it out.

    Ok, bit of an Update.
Almost finished Messer's and reading through my notes. Hope to have Messer done by Monday.

After that, its the Pluralsite Videos (I am on a 70-686 training course with QA next week) so during Lunch breaks, on the train etc, it will be Pluralsite.

Week after that it will be Windows 7 Free Training, followed by my Skillpipe Notes from the 70-680 QA Course in Feb. This leaves me Sunday and Monday to do practice exams / read notes, and then Tuesday 31st is Exam day.

I was talking to Jane yesterday and I must admit, I was really down about this yesterday. I am an intelligent person (Not Steven Hawking Intelligent) but I'm not stupid, really cant see why I am struggling with this so much?!? And don't get me started on Sub netting, REALLY think I am going to do the network+ when I finally get the Windows Exams out the way.

    Sorry, needed a rant!!!
