Leehaa - I missed this post out last week - didn't realise you had started yet! Well done.

On the other hand, well done for having the "balls" to say it was not your thing at the moment, many people would have just stayed with it and absolutely hated it - maybe you are selling yourself short, but at least you know you can interview for something at that level and get it - just imagine when you are at that level technically, they'll be no stopping you for jobs then!

Awww Lee. I am very sorry that the job did not work out for you hun. I know you were very excited about it at first. On the other hand I am glad you already have a new place to start out! Heres to the new job and finding your niche. (By the way your the one on the ground)

The new company seem quite funky and down to earth (or at least that's how it appeared at both interviews or "chats" with them). They are medium (ish) in size and have some older systems in place...which is a great way of strengthening those core skills- get to learn a bit more of the "oldskool" stuff, and the manager said he will teach me some unix and other interesting bits...less money, but fsounds a lot more comfortable and a sensible move!


Edit: Oh, and they've been around since the early 80s, doing well...so hopefully no worry of redundancies!!!

Lol - no - decided to leave it after all that. I plan to get something else when I am sure i've settled in!! (perhaps a dinosaur or something!! He cute but i'll wait until he's a little cheaper!!

Just learned that the company this post relates to (that I chose not to stay with after a short stay) has 'gone into administration'

They had to let 100 out of 140 people go last Wednesday...and the rest sit it out until the end.

Perhaps the reason behine feeling 'uncomfortable' was actually more to do with sensing something wasn't right and that the excuses were just a way of trying to reason it...

...whatever, I am so glad I didn't stay - just imagine that - being made redundant in April...then going through it all again last week...

Phew - what a close shave!! Their IT lads will do fine out of it though - they were so skilled people will be begging for them!!

 

That was lucky, maybe you are phsycic or something. Well done on the new job & if this one doesn't work out you could apply to be on phsycic tv
