Whether or not he's telling the truth and regardless of whether or not I want to hire him: I can't for insurance reasons. If I hire him, my business liability insurance is voided - simple as that.

I'm not passing judgment: Lord knows we've seen our share of wrongful convictions here in Canada. I'm just trying to explain my business reasons for not being able to hire anyone with a criminal record. I may believe in second chances, but my insurance company doesn't and they call the shots when it comes to my policy.
