I am on 912 a month after tax/ni and pension. Wooo. 12 weeks holiday means nothing when you can't afford to do anything.

Just out of interest, how many years experience is necessary, do you think, before you can start looking into becoming a server engineer, or that type of job? I am hoping to learn about the server side of things when I start my new job, and obviously I would love to end up being able to get contract jobs like this (£500 a day, yes please!) but how long do i need to be in that line of work before I can realistically look at doing this type of thing?

Or is it a "how long is a piece of string" type thing... :)

That's hard to tell... reason being is because each person is different. Personally, I would do it if I had the right experience to back me up. After all you have to know what you're doing to be able to accomplish hard tasks.
