Hi all - I'm very confused by a question in the Meyers book about procesors.

It basically asks what the address bus and data bus are on a pentium 2 processor. It then says the answer is 64 data bus 64 address bus and gives the explanation that all processors since the pentium have a 64 data bus and a 32 address bus (???????)

Is this a typo ? How can this be right. To make things worse a tech friend has just told me that the address bus is always twice the size of the data bus. I.e 32 databus = 64 address bus.

    Me confused on planet tech.

    Any help appreciated.

Your right Flame it should be 32 databus.

Here a link for now. This is for an up todate chip but it still explains a little I will see if I can find you something better to read tommorow for your studies.

Actually that erata lists seems incredibly long - especially worrying is the number of test questions in the book which provide wrong answer......

That's too bad since the Meyers series has a good rep. Keep in mind that someone else probably did the mock test questions and answers. Awhile back, I was hired by Course Technology to write the end-of-chapter test questions (and answers) for one of their A+ texts.

Publishing a book is an incredibly complex task involving a number of different people at different parts of the process. While you would think that all that scrutiny would help eliminate errors, they manage to hang in there. Then, once the book is published, it's static and the mistakes are there forever, no matter how much the author, editorial team, and publishers regret letting them slip through.
