I can't wait till I get a Blackberry of my own... *jealousy!!!!* :(

Side note - I was seriously considering getting an N95/96 for Christmas, but sods law states that if I do then work will offer me a blackberry.

    ...*grumbles*...

    Rant over.

Forget the BlackBerry and Nokia-Schmokia. This advert sold me on the Samsung Propel HURRAH!!

Oh and back on topic, I used to play video games quite a lot but I guess I grew out of them. I bought a Nintendo DS in New York earlier in the year, I use that quite often (mainly to play Fifa '09 and Dragon Quest) but it's the first games console or anything gaming I have bought since I had an N64 years ago.

I'd love a Wii though. They are so much fun! The beauty of the Wii is it's appeal to everyone. Not just blokes but everyone. That said, I did feel a twinge of hardcore gamer come back to me the other day when I saw an ad on tv for a game called Mirror's Edge. Whatever games machine that is on i'd buy the console just for that game and that is all, it looks amazing!

Again though, the Wii is just brilliant. Heck even my gf who loathes video games was sold and demanded we buy one after playing one at our friends house the other day!! I totally get why it's the best selling console if it can convert total non-gamers with zero interest in to people with a genuine want to pick up a Wii and play some games. Great stuff!

I've come to hate Blackberrys due to the muppets that have no idea how to use them and then wont stop asking stupid questions that some basic googling could answer.

Long gaming sessions don't mean that you are addicted to a game, just that you have nothing better to do.

I've more or less done an all-weekender (only really stopping for meals/toilet etc) starting friday morning till sunday night on an MMO (not WoW, though I used to play it), and only stopped because "I thought it would be a good idea".

Monday morning, with no after effects, went back to work.

I currently don't play any games, because I have better and more important things to do. I wouldn't consider myself an addict.

It depends on the person playing, not the game itself. It's not down to the games' creators to curb usage due to 'addictive gameplay' claims.

    Random digression...

Lan parties!! That brings back memories - Friday through Sunday playing Counter Strike classic only stopping for beer and pizza.

    ...*sigh* Good times, good times.

It depends on the person really. Personally, I've never had problems stopping if I want to, or need to and as far as I'm concerned not being able to do that is what addiction is.

I just hate how the media always assume long sessions = addiction.

Most games i would complete in a couple of days of solid playing and then i would have time off till the next one was released so it's never been a problem. The problem i have is once i get my mind set on something i have to see it through to completion, the problem with WoW is you'll never complete it and i think this is where i come unstuck.

Although i'm now using this flaw to my benefit, I've put some books under my nose and now i've got my mind set on passing my CCENT/CCNA :)

Was going to post the beeb article, but UKD beat me to it.

I stopped playing Wow about a year ago once I got to 70, and got bored (I wasnt in a guild, and wasnt raiding).

About 3 or 4 months ago, I was hearing about WotLK, and decided to go for the 10 day scroll of resurrection trial from a friend. Played it for about a day or two and lost interest. Then I went to Baku and, when I came back I wasnt really interested.

About a month later I decided to give it a proper shot, and havent looked back since. Its still consuming the evenings of both myself and the missus. I fully intend to get into raiding this time around, to see if it can keep me interested past the level cap.
