Oh, for Pete's sake ,Pheonix. It was a joke. You're deserting your Queen and joining the rebels. That's a radical change for an Englishman. So, I threw another outrageous proposition out there just because it was just as outrageous as saying you're joining the rebels.

It's called hyperbole, and the definition of it is "extravagent exaggeration".

Congrats on getting it all sorted! Welcome to this side of the Atlantic....except your a bit further north than me on this tiny dot in the Caribbean!!

On a Caribbean-esque side note, I was just wondering; as you are now a US passport holder, are you able to retain your UK passport (ie: dual nationality)? Also will having a US passport now invalidate you from travelling to Cuba (should you wish to vacation there at some point)?

I used to have dual nationailty (am half Spanish) but had to give up my Spanish passport and now just hold a UK one because I couldn't have dual nationality.

    Congrats again!!

Hi mate, not a passport holder as I am just a permanent resident not a citizen
citizen will take another 3 - 4 years and THEN i can hold both passports provided I never show the wrong one at the wrong time

by becoming a US citizen your actually giving up citizenship of any other country
however the British don't recognize it and to revoke your British citizenship you actually have to go to an embassy or consulate and actually agree to give up your citizenship

so in essence, your a dual citizen via some random loopholes

I'm not a Lawyer so don't take it as gospel, just letting you know what I have to do when the time comes :)

    Flight Booked

My flight leaves the UK on July 4th at 15:50 BST
which means I become a legal permanent resident on July 4th 2008, how poetic!
