So after my disastrous first attempt at the Cyber Ops exam, the investigation into it and finally the refund (which wasn't too bad). I decided to rebook the exam and attempt it again...

This time, no issues, from the registration to the end of the exam. So at the end of the exam, I did the survey and the exam just ended. Did I pass? Did I fail? I had to wait for it to transfer from PearsonVue to Cisco before I realised that I passed. However I do not know what my score was, or where I was weak/strong.

(Without breaking the NDA) What I did know is that the exam, well my exam was 104 questions longs, consisting of multiple-choice, multi-choice, drag & drop type questions, and scenario questions & answers.

However at the end of the day, a pass is a pass.

    Resources I used for this:
The T828 Network Security course from the OU.
    Junior Cybersecurity Analyst pathway
    Cisco CyberOps Associate pathway
    The CEH iClass training

Thanks mate. I am kinda thinking CASP+, which is the next step up and is the most financially viable exam compared to the price of the other cyber security certs (especially with the academic discount from Comptia) :)

But I won't seriously consider any professional certifications until after I finish the M816 from the OU (my current module) and that doesn't finish until May 2024.

I have noticed the price of most security certs are now really expensive. They either require doing a course which costs a few thousand while some can be done without course but are still £500+.

For those prices you could find academic qualifications cheaper.

Definitely! If you're a student, even a part timer like me - discounts are great. Unfortunately they are not always advertised well, if at all...

It really depends on what you want to do. Eg network security, then the Cisco Cyber Ops certification. You want a general foundation knowledge, then the Comptia Security+. Management, then the Comptia CASP+ (or as it's been renamed the SecurityX), or a more recognised cert would be the IC2 CISSP.

Then of course, it really depends on what area of cyber security - as it's such a vast area cover network security, system security, forensics, information security, data management, etc, etc, etc...

Congrats on passing the Cisco Cyber Ops exam on your second attempt! It’s great that everything went smoothly this time, from registration through to the exam ending. While it can be a bit unsettling not knowing your exact score, you’re right—a pass is a pass, and you’ve achieved a significant milestone! If you’re looking to identify areas for further improvement, the Cisco certification tracking tool might eventually offer insights into strengths and weaknesses. Until then, enjoy your accomplishment and the next steps in your cybersecurity journey!
