Hi all, Can anyone tell me what you are allowed to take into the CCNA exam? I only ask as I thought it was simply a notepad and pen and that was all, a friend of mine has just started a local evening college course and he has been told he can take a calculator and that its open book (ie he can take all his course notes in etc)

Just made me wonder if the local college is trying to make it easier to pass the exam to keep their figures up, and yes it is the college instructor who is there for the exam, the exam is done at the college etc....so my friend has been told....

This sounds to me like your friend is simply sitting an internal exam, not the Actual CCNA exam(s) as these are closed book.

You will get a letter sized board and marker and that's it. No cell phones, no books, no calculators (not even calc on the computer).

I think your friend is not taking the official CCNA exam or he will be in for a very unpleasant surprise :dry

Your freind is only doing the end of Chapter exams for the Cisco CCNA Academy course. I am doing the same at my local college, although we're not allowed to take our notes with us....whats the point of that ?

The academy course is broken up into 4 Semesters and each Semester is approx 10 weeks long. Each semester is broken down into smaller chunks and these are studied as individual chapters in the CCNA Companion guide. Each chapter has an exam/test at the end, to give the tutor/instructor and cisco an idea of where each student is at. For instance..... at the moment I am studying Semester 3 Chapter 8- Spanning Tree Protocol and I will be tested on it with an online exam on Friday.

The exam scores I have had and will get up until the end of semester 4 have absolutely NO relation to the PROPER CCNA exam. That exam has to be done at a designated exam centre and our course tutor can have nothing to do with it.

    Just my 2 penneth
