I I'm studying over a period of 10 months for the A+, Network + and MCTS/MCITP MS Win 7 courses. I definitely think one of the MS certifications is a good way to go. A lot of people that have been in the field a lot longer than have said they are pretty impressed with doing the MCITP so early on (literally only just got the ball rolling on my career in IT 10 weeks ago...)

Maybe look into the MCTS/MCITP? Or even the A+ is a good place to start if you haven't looked into that already?
