Cannot join computer to new domain

I disabled DHCP on the router, the other computers found the DC, connected to the domain, but I could not connect to the internet. The funny thing was, that although i could not browse, yahoo messenger could not connect, the only program that could connect to the internet was Skype.
How can i make the DC connect to the internet, and when i connect locally (i don't want to have to turn on the DC all the time just to read my mail), I need to be able to connect to the net straight through the router. I know that a DC should be on all the time, but this is just a test environment.
And I can't ping the adsl router from the server now , it connects to the router via the wireless usb adapter, but i can't ping it. Can ping the server though from my other workstations, but can't ping workstations from the server.
