Yes you would, IIRC 32 bit OSs can only see upto 3GB.

I wouldn't know, because I've only used Vista twice when fixing my mum's laptop and not even used the W7 betas.

Vista and W7 are no differnent, you will still need the 64bit version to address more than 3GB.

Since SP1 for Vista 32bit though it will kind of 'lie' to you though and report the amount of installed ram (on the welcome screen), just not how much you can use. :)

You need the 64bit edition of the operating system installed, along with a 64bit cpu.
Stickers on the side are usually from cpu's saying 64bit compatible. almost all OS's shipped with computers are 32bit unless otherwise specified :eyecrazy

Haha I don't drink coffee but i have got caffeine tablets here next to me, which is indeed the drug of choice from this mornings SSID ;p

You can generally choose which OS you get from the vendor. Dunno about misco though, they've always been funny.

Pfft. Check out the price directly from HP. At least then you'll get at least one retailer which will ship it with your choice of OS.

Lot more expensive http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/uk/en/sm/WF06a/12454-12454-64287-3328893-3328893-3658372.html and still doesnt come with 64 bit as standard.

Edit: Misco said I can buy Vista 64 bit and they will install it for me BUT they will charge £25 to install it, I think I will just buy the pc with 32bit and do it myself.
