    Yeah did that too, IPCONfIG was the first thing I did after I saw that it wasn't connecting and saw that it displayed all the correct results.

    I could ping but never did a tracert which I'll do.

    Ahh, if you can ping then you should be able to get into the web config of the router where you can check the ADSL details.

    ipconfig, take a note of the default gateway, thats the address you want to browse to.

    I got it sorted, after doing a repair install etc on Saturday I don't think I switched the laptop off properly after installing everything again or I didn't give it time to re set itself.

    Anyway its working now and everything seems fine, apart from its the slowest laptop in the universe with an over sensitive touchpad.

    I doubt the bloody thing could get any slower.

    I never looked at the specs but it has to be the bare minimum, it had Vista home basic on it and it was 2.5mins before I could do anything from post :blink

    Was it an upgrade from XP (any sign of a Vista sticker on it) ? Could probably do with some more RAM and I guess Norton is lurking about as well.

    yep probably, I do know it has an Nvidia 6000 go something.... go slow maybe :)

    It came with Vista on it, it had mcafee on it but I have wiped that as she was refusing to pay for it so I installed the free stuff I use.

    nah more like go go crappy laptop, the best bit on it was the screen and that was about it.

    and all that work for a box a fudge :)
