Seems clear to me that Old Shizam took exception to our witch hunters accusations and sought to remove him! Stake him before he kills us all!

(Or leave it a bit longer, this whole turn of events is doing wonders for the level of tension in my dark and gloomy tale!)

Oh the poor dear, I hope his Mother takes good care of him.

This is starting to make me feel all freaked out, I hope we stake the beast soon, otherwise I will worry for the tender flesh of my neck.

I say Spare Shizam , I am not sure that it is he that is the terror of this town.

Although it's a bit of a ******* coincidence, I'm going with the coppers nose on this one.
And that nose doesn't want to be anywhere near the ****.

He smells ****** bad enough alive, can you imagine the ******* pong with him dead?

So, in the interest of not getting my ****** stake dirty, I say spare the smelly ****.

 

"It was Shizam I tell you! I could smell him from a mile off" screamed Amber

"Nah, I swear it was Zachary's swaying gait I saw heading back towards the sewers" argued Gall.

Either which way I was in a fine state and no cuppa tea was going to help me out o' this one.

Detective Dick had taken the stand in the village square, propped up on Vet Ant's Inns from porch with a bottle o' amber keeping him company while I went a hunting the shadows. The tension was ripe in the air, thick lick a foggy morning, pressing in all around, the slightest sound amplified to a crescendo of noise. Any sensible person would be deep in their pits or their cups, locked behind solid doors at this hour, not sneaky around in the shadows, hunting shadows for smaller shadows that might not even be there, what had I been thinking, I'm a witch-hunter, not a vampire seeker, all I need to know is if they weigh more than a duck!

Amber jerks in my hand, a creak to our right has her looking all around, good ole Amber, never pointing in the right direction. Gall mumbles, unintelligible, he's been doing that all day, something's bothering him but he's wasn't ready to let on.

A few quick strides right and I'm tucked in behind the woodpile alongside Issa's house, and whats that? Heavy breathing from around the back, stepping further along , with Amber and Gall's edges glinting in the moonlight, I can see a shape hunched behind Issa's rose trellis approaching her back door, Gall snickered in anticipation and the shape tensed, looking quickly around, yellow glowing eyes piercing the gloom as if he had heard. Eyes deadlocked on mine, the only thing visible in the shadows of Issa's porch a mere step outside the pool of moonlight in her garden, I can't see who it is but the smell, oh the ripeness.

And then it hits me, right in the face, I'm down on my back with a face full of roses, blissfully sweet smelling roses, and a pounding on my chest as the predator slams over the downed fence and me and scampers off down the alley. For a moment I rest, wondering that I'm still here, still alive, why didn't they just take me and have done with it ?

Gall gets some more use, despite his mumblings, I'm soon free of the entanglement and moving back towards the open ground of the street, odd that the smell still lingers, sweet rose mixed with stagnant rot.

A quick scout of the street for any clues shows nothing, Amber says left, Gall mumbles right, I'm a thinking we might be safe for the night now, it might not return, but then I spot the glow, the twin glows beside the cooling barrels of Zacharys forge but before I can start the chase both Amber and Gall shout "Behind…." the rest is lost as I hit the floor, my head a thunderous roar of black agony, then the sinking feeling hits me, the sinking of teeth into flesh that should not be happening, it all ebbs away, slowly, thickly and the veil drops.

I've only got Amber and Gall to trust on this one, and my own nose, but something doesn't feel right, besides the lack of sustaining blood. I hold my fingers up to the bite marks again, measuring them for the twentieth time, wondering again why the fang marks are so close together, closer than a mans would be...

Looks like it's up to the Mayor to decide Shizam's fate...

 

Agrhhhhh me early post has disapeared, as it looks liek im soon to do! Twasnt me i tells ee. I saw teh witch hunter down me pipes night he died was staked. Was sniffing teh air and saying " I can smell the fanged night beasts close by". He was stood under the drop hole fer teh tavern. I was gonna tell him not to stand there too long, when i was distracted by a loud squeak. When i turened back he was gone.
Not long after i heard the foulest cusring ya ever heard. enough to turn even my sewers blue! never heard so many expletives since nuclear curry night down the takeaway! Every 2nd word was dirtier than my clothes i says. Wondered who it could had been i did. Who uses such language in our fair old village?
Just remember, if ya stake me whose gonna do teh dirty jobs you high lifers don wanna? Ya pipes will soon block up and there'll be a blow back down ya back passage ya wouldnt like to be knee deep in i says!

 

Oi, wotchit you *********.
That's a public ***** order offence when carried out in the ******* square.

I'd keep an eye on Gall if I were you, he's a tad protective.

 

We will give the Mayor a full day to cast his vote; if he doesn't do so by the time 24 hours have passed since the first nomination, Shizam will be Spared and nominations will open back up.

 

Comrades, I am sure that my absence has caused you some alarm but rest assured it was not in vain. During my investigations I have seen many things and many feats of bravery. Andreas the scribe may have the heart of a poet but he has the soul of a soldier. Therefore I am commandeering him into the kings royal guards as sargeant. Together humanity will rescue humanity.

 

So... does that mean you vote to Spare or Stake Old Shizam?

 

And there's me voting to ***** spare you having a stake shoved right ** **** ********.

Do I get the impression that you are trying to, as the ***** expression goes, ********* fit me up?

If ****** so sunshine, I warn you to stay well clear of me.
Otherwise I will take your shovel and ***** ******* ****. It may not be a ***** stake through the heart, but even a ***** vampire would suffer from a good **** bout of blood poisoning.

 

Errrmmmm... what a great honour.... Well, I have never been found wanting when the midden hits the windmill I will serve with dignity. Now, if someone could just provide me with a full suit of armour with a very high collar that would be lovely.

I will however need enough flexibility in the arms and hands to continue my writing....
