BM when I downloaded the netsim 7 demo from the website and tried lab 2 I was unable to enter the commands that are given step by step they always showed errors. Even after running the update, which asked me to register a second time so I choose demo again

Can you advise on that? or is it likely the software has gone wrong? lab is out of date? incorrect? etc...

It seemed weird that commands given in what looked to be a beautifully detailed lab were not accepted

    **Edit**
Should have said it was the CCNP netsim 7 demo

Actually GBL, he didn't slag anyone, he has simply expressed his distaste of the product. You are, in fact, the only one to call anyone by an offensive name in this thread.

Just thought I'd point that out.

Node recently made a reference to GBL in another thread...

Which was unrelated to this one. I also might mention that GBL, as a valued member of this forum, shouldn't rise to it.

Edit: And on said thread, he didn't actually use offensive language.

As Bluerinse said, Michael gave an "above-and-beyond" response to Node's initial comments, which is more than he should have expected. That should settle the matter or at least give Node some viable options to pursue. I had also recommended that Node take the "direct route" and send his complaints to Boson's tech support for the product. Those are the main points of the thread. Let's stick to them. Thanks.

Again, I'd have to determine whether you were in the correct configuration mode. Miss one command, and you'd be in a different mode that won't accept the commands you're trying to issue. For example, if I do...

configure terminal (or, to most of us, conf t or config t)
    ip address 10.20.30.40 255.255.255.0

...it's gonna spit out an error, because you're not in interface configuration mode.

It might be that the proper command is missing in the demo lab, and if that's the case, we certainly want to know about it.

If you are interested, I can walk you through it in IM on Monday when I get to work...

Thanks for the offer of a walk through but I won't get time at work sadly :(

What I will do is download the demo on to my work PC and try running through the lab again if I get time and highlight the error if I can find it again :)

Fair enough, but I find it hardley fair that I get attacked on another thread and no mods said anything, apart from Tinnus.

    seems fair

You wouldn't be at work; I'm in the US, so you'd likely be home. :)

Please let me know if you find the error!

The difference is: he expressed an opinion about how he see's your contribution on this forum, he never used any offensive language or names. Where as you referred to him by using an offensive word. :ohmy (<- lol)

Yea, it's done with now. Just try to stay calm in future, it really doesn't look good on a forum when one of the most active members uses such language - which is probably why the mods had more to say.

Just checked - NetSim *does* include support for shortcut commands. In addition, it includes support for command completion and question-mark help.

I have not heard from Node... if I hear from him, I'd be more than happy to walk through the product with him - and the same offer goes for any of you on here who is interested.
