booting from usb hard drive

    is it possible to boot win xp from a usb hard disk.

    Good question, unfortunately I have no idea. I'll be very interested in the answer though.. :)

    In theory it is possible, as long as you can boot from the USB device.

    I found this which explains how to do it.

    EDIT: I just realised that the link I posted is for booting to a USB stick, and not USB Disk.

    I would have thought it depends on the BIOS to be honest. I can't see why XP per se wouldn't boot as a hard drive is a hard drive.

    My BIOS lists my LACIE as an option to boot. When i get five i'll see if it will boot from it......
