Study each layer individually, like layer1 (Physical) is interested in putting the data on the cable or wirless, repeaters operate here, and Hubs, and their PDU (physical Data Units) are known as bits. So wiring, cabling, PIN connections and any other physical media is reperesnted here.

Thats lesson 1 in OSI Layered model
