    Hey peeps,

I've been tasked with documenting the backup strategy for my organisation, but for the life of me can't seem to find any example documents.

Has anyone got an example backup strategy document I could possibly look at? (Please. :D)

Many thanks in advance guys and gals.

I have implemented Continuity, Disaster & Business Recovery plans.

These where done from a business prospective so included things such as office relocation, diverting phones as well as IT.

The IT part of it consisted of our backup plan e.g.:

    - RAID 5 for fault tolerance on all servers
    - Network backed up twice daily on tapes
    - Network backed up daily onto a SAN.
    - Both backup sets checked daily, one for remote storage, one for onsite storage.
    - Monthly backup rotation
    - Authorised access to backups tapes and servers
    - Stored written passwords at the Directors houses in safes (you never know the IT peps might have died in a fire!)

Naturally, yours will be different for your own business needs.

We then implemented the Continuity, Disaster & Business Recovery Plan in a test environment and documented everything we needed to do to bring our mission critial servers back online.

    Hope that helps.
