Application support career?

    I'm not specifically considering it of such I'm more curious than anything.. is this a real career path lol? isit basically supporting office 365 and possible on-premise software like exchange/sharepoint? or is there more to it? is this even a viable career path that has good prospects? Lets say this was a path someone wanted to go down, where would such person start-out in regards to certs, and entry jobs? I'm not even sure I have the right idea of what it really is as I've seen many job adds describing it differently from eachother.

    Those jobs aren't to support MS apps, they are for other software companies that provide special software for particular markets. The architecture of that supplier's software will determine what skills they need you to have, but the common denominator is typically SQL with some programming chops on the side.
