I suspect your supplier is like I used to operate - you buy in what you are offered from distribution. So unless they are selling absolutely massive amounts of Samsung stuff (which I doubt) they wouldn't be party to knowing about stuff like that anyway.

At the end of the day, if you switch to a different make, that should hopefully solve all your problems :thumbleft

Well you could follow it up with Samsung direct but tbh it's prob not worth the hassle (thanks for the rep !)

Fingers crossed something esle will work better (might also be worth checking the ASUS site for a firmware update to the mb in case they've done anything to improve things or check the Via website for an update there also).

Careful not to over-anaylyse stuff too !

    greenbrucelee,

That's a common element that I recall from this thread and the previous thread. How about trying to uninstall Crysis wars and see if the DVD drive works again?

I did a complete format of the system and still no luck, it has to be a bad batch or compatability problem.

With chipsets, who knows? VIA's not known for their stability. I typically go with Intel-based ones because they have historically been the most stable... but still, there's no guarantee that even they will be stable from one chipset to the next.
