Does anyone know of a good all-in-one hotspot kit? its for a local club

    must have following features -

    • logon screen to type passcode / daily passcode (will be free to members of club only)
    • Independent ie not apart of cloud or btopenzone etc
    • Web content filtering (important!)
    • quality of service, restrict bandwidth to each user, restrict bandwidth inline with ISP's monthly usage policy
    • block certain sites and services (ie windows update, skype, p2p)
    • ethernet port to allow office non-restrictive (ie with out passcode, and allow windows update etc ) access, however, still have Web content filtering.

I really need a product that can be managed by people with little IT knowledge. I am finding it difficult to find anything suitable.

Hope you guys can suggest something?

    cheers

Apparently this device can be flashed with new firmware to allow what you are looking for

    http://www.linksysbycisco.com/US/en/products/WRT54GL

Here is a great set of tutorials on youtube showing exactly how to do it:

    1. Setup a Hotspot with LinkSys WRT54GL (Part 1:Install DD-WRT)

    www.youtube.com/watch?v=PwnhggrwfYg

    2. Setup Your Own Hotspot with LinkSys WRT54GL (Part 2)

    www.youtube.com/watch?v=...&feature=related

Get the dd wrt firmware from here

    www.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads.php

Use DD-WRT v24 RC5 as it is stable

there are other hotspots available on the wrt54GL , have a look in the services / hotspot section of the wrt54GL once you have the dd wrt firmware installed. Make sure you use ethernet cable to flash the firmware as using wireless will brick your wrt54gl.

Here is a vid tutorial on loading a wrt54GL with dd wrt firmware

    www.youtube.com/watch?v=...&feature=related

Once again use DD-WRT v24 RC5 as it is stable.

    Hope this helps

Yep - bang on - WRT54G is the way to go. Make sure you get the right version though - some of them are unable to be flashed because they chopped down the amount of flash memory available, making a third-party firmware install very difficult.

FWIW, I run Open-WRT rather than DD-WRT as I prefer it - I find it more stable and with more and better features.

Thanks I didn't know hotspotsystem.com now offered a free service

only thing i am concerned about is content filtering, opendns is enough in my view.

I would also like URL rewrite if possible

I would preferred if hotspotsystem.com had a daily code option

do you know if these are supported?
