How do you try and distract yourself from thinking about how it went from the time of final interview and waiting for a response from the recruitment team to let you know how it went?

I had my final interview on Wednesday after 6 Interviews and 2 Tests so its been a long process. The in-house recruiter is on annual leave until Tuesday so Im not expecting anything until Wednesday however, that doesnt stop me from checking emails every 10 minutes.

To be honest, I dont think Ive made the cut and from what the recruiter was saying of it being a 9 till 5 Monday to Friday, to the Hiring Manager saying its 24/7 Shifts, Weekends and Nights, I need to establish if that is fesabile with a 5 Month old baby.

Like to be put out of my misery either way!

Hey mate. I’ve had this a few times over the years. It’s horrible waiting. I’d stay positive and try to manifest what you want. You’re a great lad and if it’s not meant to be, I’d be into the next opportunity. I’ve not got jobs in the past and thought, this is terrible. I look back now and think thank flip I didn’t get that, because I’d not be where I am today.
I’d not read too much into the recruiter not knowing the shift patterns. They often don’t know all that much about the roles they facilitate

Ah cheers Jim. I did read this on Saturday but never for round to responding.
Had an email this morning saying Thanks but No Thanks. I expected it to be honest but it is what it is. Onwards and Upwards you know :)

Its all fate mate, you'll find the perfect role for you and it'll be onwards and upwards. Have a look at ServiceNow as a potential career mate, we do really cool stuff. I'd not thought about a career here until recently

Thank you Jim. Appreciate the positive spin and you are 100% correct.
I think whats annoyed me the most is the response from Amazon.

6 Interviews at about an hour a peice, 2 Tests at 2 Hours each and a whole Saturday reading up their "work ethics". Make it to the final interview and all I get is a generic email saying thanks but no thanks and we cant even tell you why. I reached out to the Amazon Recruiter for a bit of feedback and complete silence.

I mean Id get it if this was the first stage but youd think by the final stage they would have the courtesy to give you a phone call or even a personalised email.

Thats bad that mate, tbh I think you've dodged a bullet not going there personally. They have amazing tech but I dont know anyone that stays there long term. It seems like a factory environment to me, and I've never seem them win a great place to work or similar. We on the other hand recently won the number 1 large org great place to work. Check us out mate, you will be surprised

Thank you @JK2447 sounds like a pretty good place to work.
My wife is going back to work in Jan so Im thinking of just getting through the next few months, work on some certifications and come September, start applying. I have a 3 Month notice period anyway so that will take me to Januaary once the interviews / paperwork etc is all sorted out.

We fly out to New Zealand on the 10th of December, and get back on the 4th of Jan so hopefully be ready for a new role. Back to the Azure 104 for the time being.

Recruitment process has gone way too far from some companies these days.

6 interviews and 2 tests – did you apply to become the MD?

    Other opportunities out there….

AWS are bad for that I've heard, several interviews with no guarantees. That's many hours with no guarantees. Not for me all of that

Same here – I had an interview for a “IT project manger” role that consisted of an interview with the recruitment agent (fair enough) then a “pre interview” with their HR department (starting to get weird) and then 4 interviews with various tech guys and other people in the business.

Clearly none of them had read my CV at all and they said I was not suitable for the role due to some project management certification\standard I didn’t have. Why waste everyone’s time if that was the case?

Needs to be maximum 3 interviews for any job – its fair to say that someone might have opportunities for interview at various organisations – what are they meant to do? Take a month off work so they can go through these ridiculous never-ending interviews?
