Thanks for all the hard word SimonV over the years. When I was starting out in IT donkeys years ago this place was a great help getting my A+ and basic MS certs under the belt. I stiĺl catch up with some of the old CF guard from time to time at conferences and on social media etc.

You'll be sorely missed but CF Is in good hands and you can put your feet up and relax.

Wow, I think it's been a few thousand days since I logged in the last time! I'm not sure where life has taken you Si, but I sure know what you mean about it going places you never saw coming
When I signed up 5017 days ago I wasn't new to certs, but this was a fresh new community that really helped bring folks together who wanted to learn, a passion I still have today and still strive to share. While other sites and communities peddled dumps we took the high ground and encouraged real understanding and skills development, and today we are still here, helping those old and new move along their path in the technology space

It's been years since I was an active part in the community, when I started I was a wee nipper in London, the ripe age of 22, working too many hours, studying the rest, and this place was my home away from home. I remember our enjoyable meet ups, the flame wars (that we kept to a minimum), the joy we felt at friends successes, and the grief we all shared with the news of passing friends, or vanishing characters

Oddly I found myself in a small town in the USA, home to another former CertForum mod, and the world seems like an oddly small place when that happens (that reminds me, I really must go have coffee with Trip!)
If I ever make it back to the UK, I'm sure a beer with a few folks will be in order. I'm no longer on Facebook but I heard about this on LinkedIn where you can always find me posting about one thing or another!

Certforums was a special place right from the start, I joined Jun 29, 2003. 5234 days. I was very active for many years and for some of those, got to work in the engine room (just a place where more VB's get tossed than on the public part of the site) and while doing that i got to experience some of the stress that goes on when a group of like minded people are trying to rid the Internet of cheaters (braindump sites) etc. Simon had to take full responsibility for the legal pressure put on Certforums to not post the facts.
I miss the interactions of the characters that posted back then. A few were quite brilliant, to name a few that made me think, Freddy freeloader, DeFaktor, Harry, UCM, Pheo, BM, Trip, Boycie, and GBH.
Those were the old days and now we have the new. Good luck JK2447 James

 

Great to see you mate! you still in Gold Coast? I've spent two months there this year and will probably be back next year, will have to meet up if you are still there!
