Got a few phone problems to sort out, try to sort out the Computer, User and password migration from W2K to Server 2003 and I'm sure there will be other problems to sort out.

Oh and as it's Thursday, it's down to the pub for a pint and a sarnie.

I plan to nail some long-standing cases that have been building up on my database - mostly End User connection problems, but a few others too.

Interestingly, I was first to encounter a bizarre issue today - End User calls to say they can get connected, but can't view Web pages. On further examination, I found that they can ping, say Google, by IP but not name. So drop the IP into Internet Explorer -VIOLA - Google comes up :?:

So I reconfigure the DNS on EU's router - nada - same prob. I report this to our wholesale ADSL provider - turns out they have somehow assigned the same IP more than once. A quick reset by them - and TADA :P

This happened twice more over the course of the day - guess who got the credit for knowing the fix :angel

Took a 6 hour long entrance exam to qualify for a DSL help desk tech at Qwest yesterday. Don't anticipate leaving my current jobs but they're part-time and the bank account is looking a little thin. Hedging my bets.

At work (HP) today catching up on loose ends. We start a round of tests next week so need to get stuff ready.

No holidays for me I'm afraid, I've had long enough off, but I wouldn't call it a holiday.I could do with one of those lol :!:

I went for an interview yesterday, and I got a call today.I start on Thursday.
It's basic production work at certificate services.Basically producing birth, death, marriage certificates.I'm on contract for 3 months, then possibility of further employment depending on the amount of work they have.
It's repetitive work really, and not my kind of thing, but it helps not having to worry about money so much now.

My Dad worked there for a while not long back, in the evenings, doing what I'll be doing.Anyway he told me that a fella he worked alongside applied for an IT job as he was studying computers, and he got a position.
I'm hopeful that I'll go the same way.
The place is full of computers (700 staff) so there's bound to be a fair few IT staff working there.

    Anyway, we'll see.

    Thanks :!:
