Depends on the importance of the job. For a help desk tech, probably not... but for the one-and-only adminstrator for a network right in the middle of a migration, probably so. At a minimum, they can sue you for whatever it costs to replace you, and they MIGHT even get damages for lost business/productivity.

A contract is a contract... if you can't keep the terms of the contract, don't sign it in the first place.
