I would definetly have them on seperate partitions, I just wondering though how it would work with both OSs seeing the second drive that had my data and games.

Well, when you are inspecting a drive there is only one OS loaded, so there is no contention for the drive. Whether drive letters are auto assigned would depend on the type of installation, but all data is there and represented as such.

I'm not fussed about seperate partitions at the moment, as Ubuntu is not being heavily used at all.

i believe you games would need to be installed on each os for it to function on both os, as certain dlls are installed during install stage. Some games are just a matter of creating a shortcut from the target to the desktop of the other os, or whereever you want the shortcut to be

your data is accessible as normal. no restrictions until you encrypt the data.

say you kept your data on your c drive here
    C:\Documents and Settings\xp\My Documents

when booted into vista, you would need to go to the above location to access your data through my computer/explorer

Yes, if I were runnig XP and Vista on their own partition, then yes, I would need to install it on both. Not because of the .dlls though! When you install a game, or any other software for that matter, the installation is registered in the system's registry, and each OS install has its own registry.

    Yep.

Yup, you could also map the My Documents (sorry, documents!) folder in Vista to the same location as the XP My Documents. Just right click on Documents > Propeties and then edit in the location tab as needed.

Not sure mate, it does on business, enterprise and ultimate but not sure about the 'home' versions.

Anyone running Vista home premium\basic that can test this? 8)
