HNY everyone.. Further to my posting recently, I am due to take 294 tomorrow. First thing at 9.30. Still not sure how many questions are in the exam, but I notice the time allowance is the same as for 293 (115 mins) which means I will use logic and assume therefore the same number of questions as for that exam (40)!

I have yet to come across anyone else who has taken this exam, so if there are any of you lurking out there who might be able to offer a couple of last minute hints, I would love to hear from you. Failing that, I'll see you on "the other side" and let you know the result...

I certainly feel ready to take it on. But I'm not sure how to tackle 298 as yet. It seems to be just a consolidation of various security topics.

The exam though seems to be made up of case studies which is unlike I've experienced before. But I guess if you know your stuff it shouldn't make any difference.

Once I've completed the MCSE, I expect to start a new job very soon afterwards, training others for the same exams.

Just one little question for anyone out there who knows, what is the difference in a nutshell between external trusts and shortcut trusts?

Well I was hoping to report back a storming pass by this time. However, due to a fault logging me into my exam at the test centre, I haven't been able to take it yet!

Efforts to re-install the testing software on both server and client failed to resolve the problem so I've come back home to await news on when they have solved it. May be taking it later today, or if not on Thurs. Or Bugga!

Taking an exam can be stressful enough but adding in dodgy testing software can be even worse. Hope you are keeping your balance, mate. Good luck. Kick butt. Take names.

Well here we are again. First of all the good news is that I passed with 866.

Required score as always is 700. Unexpectedly, there were four simulation questions out of the total of 39. In my exam two of the sims related to creating software installation packages within GPOs, and one of them was about upgrading a member server in a child domain to a domain controller for the same forest.

The fourth sim involved four OUs and five GPOs. Basically In each OU there were a number of computer accounts, and in one of them there was also a user account. You then had the five GPOs distributed among four OUs, such that two of the OUs had two GPOs linked(1&2, 3&4), one OU had no linked GPO, while the fifth had just one GPO link (5). So far?

You have to arrange the computer or user objects, such that the user account receives GPOs 3,4 and 5 only.

So there you go. Test is about 2 and a quarter hours and as always, if you know your stuff, you will pass :-)
