I've found that when viewing and item in Ebay i have to turn off ZA. Its ok with the listings off items but, when viewing any item from the list the page for that item fails to load. It just sits there with a blank IE7 screen, no Webpage failed to load message or anything. It looks like its still trying to load the page. However if i turn off ZA and refresh the page loads correctly. I figure ZA is blocking the script used by eaby for item pages. But i don't know what to look for in ZA to turn this blocking off.

So does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

I use Zone Alarm version 7.0.362.000 - the free one - and IE7. Just been onto Ebay, and I can surf around. I would add I don't have an account on there, so I am not logged in. Have you made any changes to IE security settings or blocked Ebay somehow from within ZA?

Hm - I agree. ZA shouldn't have any effect on Ebay.

I'd suggest to reset ZA to defaults and see what pops up. This will give you a clue as to what is going wrong.

Have you tried entering ebay into za allowed site manually? Really don't why it would be blocking you. It never did me, when I had it.

Yeah i've enetered it manually into the allowed sites Mitzs (well think i have) but still no joy.

Things is it used to work fine until last month. Then it just started doing this. But as far as i'm aware nothing has changed. Plus Ebay itself works, the home page loads and i can list items or view a list of auctions, i just can not view any actual Auction items when i click on them. I cant figure out what it is.

Perhaps clear the temp internet files in IE and give it another shot? Do you have another browser installed (e.g Firefox) that you try?

Also if you are convinced it is an issue with ZA perhaps uninstall and then reinstall or a repair install?

Done the clear temp files etc Sparky. HAve tried FF and its the same so i'm convinced its ZA. If i cant find a solution soon i will re-install ZA. Its just that i've almost got it setup perfect and that took ages to do.

One thing we haven't checked - which version of ZA is this? And is it the suite, the paid-for firewall or the free one?

Well its the ZA suite ver. 6.0.631. Not that i think it will make much difference as it was working up until last month. As far as i'm aware there have been no updates to it in this period.

Yes - it makes a lot of difference! :biggrin

I suspect most of us, on hearing ZA, thought 'firewall'. I know that I did. But the suite has a *lot* of other stuff in it. Off the top of my head it could be an anti-popup, or site blocking component that is causing this. Which makes much more sense, as a firewall would not normally cause this problem.

Have you tried asking on the ZA forum?

have tried looking in the preferences tabs of zonealarm? theres a section called online fraud protection. on mine I got ebay password by default. but if theres others beside the ebay one on that list you can try deleting it.
I would also recommend getting a clean install and updating the firewall,
The version Iam running is version 7.0.408.XXX

    best of luck.

I can also confirm the same issue. I can easily prove it's ZA by quitting out of it and then the eBay auctions come up okay. But start ZA up again and the auctions become blocked again.

I have changed every setting in ZA that I can without luck. I even added cgi.ebay.com as an allowed domain but they are still blocked.

I realized I was running an older version...updated to 7.0.408 and everything is good now.
