If people were more honest with each other then we wouldn't have to resort to such tactics :D

You Americans always make things so complicated.

That's why we never really got into the cold war.
We just popped over every now and then and read the Russians' text messages, then went home.

And would anyone have found Saddam Hussein if he hadn't ordered a pizza under his real name?

    Don't think so.

Agreed, the reason for it is that not many people in Britian are faithful and so such tactics are required to know your not being kept in the dark!

Not that I'd do it of course :biggrin

....and apart from the fact that we must be captured more than 300 times per day on average with CCTV cameras, but you try and find the pr*ck that damages your car and no-one saw nothing :blink... makes you wonder:hhhmmm!!!

If people weren't doing anything wrong they wouldn't need privacy. Only terrorists need privacy. And terrorists are everywhere in the post-(insert your own 9/11 here) world.

To be honest, I think that is anywhere in the world not just there. We just had a husband kill a teenage boy who was though to be his wife lover and the wife the boys teacher. Plus I belive some people own actions make them paranoid about their mates.

Over in the US when the elections were coming up, there was always reports on the TV on children killing children with knifes and guns. :(

why is it the US believes it's ok to have a gun in the house??

How many children are killed each year by their parent's guns?

We might spy on each other over here, but at least we don't keep guns in the house or put them in a shoe box in the wardrobe!!! Like I have seen in New York!

...to keep other people with guns OUT of my house. :dry If they outlaw guns for normal citizens, only criminals will have them... leaving me and my family largely undefended. No thanks. If someone's gonna break into my house to harm my family, I want them to have to think about whether it's worth losing their life over.

The risk of accidental death by firearm is extremely low, especially with proper training. And the number of childrens' deaths by firearm has dropped in recent years. In the US in 2003, approximately 2,000 children were killed by firearms, 182 accidentally. But 1.69 MILLION children live in homes where guns have NOT been properly secured. 34% of kids in the US live in a home with at least one gun. Keep them out of kids' reach, and they won't be harmed... at least, not in your home.

NYC has some of the toughest gun control laws in the country BTW. Which is why only mobsters and roving gangs of plain clothes nazis have them. :blink

Because we have a law that states we have the right to bear arms. There have always been guns in our house as I grew up. But we knew not to touch them with out permission and our parents taught us from a young the power of the gun and to respect it. I agree that too many children are hurt with guns. However there are alot of them that don't even get them from their homes. And the ones that do the parents need to be held responable because they did not protect them or teach them to respect it. Hiding a gun and not explaining it to your child is the worst thing I think any responable adult can do. We were raised that we couldn't even point toy guns at each other. There is a lesson in there.

So by trying to analogize my statement, "If they outlaw guns for normal citizens, only criminals will have them", you're saying that if nuclear weapons are outlawed for normal countries, only criminal countries will have them? Your analogy is logically flawed. Those who have the ability (economically or militarily) get to decide who can have nuclear weapons. Those who have the guns don't get to decide who gets the guns. Further, the US and UK are far from criminalistic countries.

If you think you don't have any rights in the UK, I suggest you take a trip to some other countries. If you can find better elsewhere, you know where the country's door is. I can tell you from experience that you simply don't know how good you have it. :dry

Well, I'm sure my opinion would greatly differ from another american who doesn't like guns. There are more then a few here. However, this is one right they haven't been able to take away from us yet.
