... you start to have strange computing related dreams.

I thought I'd share this one, as I just can't get (what I remember) out of my head.

I dreamt last night that I'd bought a new laptop. It was a laptop specifically for editing websites, and cost me £500. It was made by HP (I think... it may have been an Asus) and had a 900Mhz Celeron processor. Thing was, it looked exactly like the old style manual typewriters. It even went 'clack clack clack' as I typed, and it had a roll of vellum in it instead of normal paper.
One of my friends pointed out to me that it was, in fact, just a manual typewriter. I said it wasn't, and pointed to the marketing hype for the machine. It apparently worked by just looking at the Metadata from teh websites; because it didn't need to load a GUI or deal with any of the other gumph you get trawling around the net, it was a more efficient way of editing your websites :blink

    Odd...

I pretty much live and breathe IT myself. I work on IT all day, and then at night at home I have projects of my own I work on. Then I just got done watching both seasons of "The IT Crowd". So yeah, ive had IT dreams before.

When ive had enough of computers I go in the yard and shoot my gun around, shoot some targets. Its a nice stress reliever. But yeah, I need a holiday. Im trying to plan one soon. Sounds like you should probobly do the same. Especially since you poor britans cant own firearms:(

I call these "fever dreams", although usually having a fever has nothing to do with them. They are the somewhat disturbing dreams you have when you are trying to solve a "real-life" problem and the problem enters your "dream world". As if you don't have to work hard enough when you are at work (and awake)...

I'd take all three, if I could!

It's going really well, thanks. Up to 36km/hour average on the bikes in the gym with a good resistance. So I just need to get out on the road and build up my endurance. Looking to manage a minimum level of 7.5mph going uphill. Which will be fun in the Highlands past Loch Lomond...

Well at least it aint as bad as talking in your sleep...I did that once...it was when I started working for BT Broadband over 4years ago. I was in bed with my girlfriend at the time and suddenly started talking like I was having a phone conversation with a customer. :blink needless to say that was the first and last time I ever did that. :biggrin

I did read it... I'm trying to figure out how the heck a manual typewriter displays Web metadata content without displaying it on an... err... "external display device". :p

Ok now that I have put on my gypsy turbon Madam Mitzs sees all and your dreams are telling you....

    1.
You need a laptop that isn't a piece of shite. ( Hint no celerons)

    2.
This would indicate that you never want to be without technology because you are to lazy to do manual labor.

    3.
Get new friends. Ones that will lie to you in your time of need!

    4.
    Dreamweaver....

Your session with Madam Mitzs is now over. Your payment is 5 full pints and a pictue of gav in his skirt. Due immediately8)

    LMAO!

You got no chance, madam Mitzs. Mainly because I don't even know what Gav looks like, never mind having a piccy of him in a kilt... sorry, I mean skirt :P

It may be more to do with the fact that the first ever bit of 'technology' I had was a manual typewriter. I'd begged for one for Christmas all year, to do my typing with. Had the dear thing up until a couple of years ago. Plus I've already done the manual labour stint haulking concrete slabs. Never again thanks :dry

As for the Celeron... yeah I concede they're shite. lol.
