Hi all,

well you know iv been out the loop for a while, but the computer charity i work for just rang me and said he was given a pc with Windows XP Cystal V3 2008 on it??? Done a quick bit of snooping, seems like some sort of custom thing??? I need to get back working, things pass you by so quickly.

It's a cracked version, with updated security patches and stuff, and probably some custom programs built in

Ummm... No its not. Crystal XP is not 'cracked' - its a customisation for XP's look and feel. Don't make the mistake of lumping 'customised' in with 'cracked' - it also has nothing to do with updated security patches.

Entirely possible - but just as likely its a legit customised version. i used to run my copy with Bricopacks all over the show, but got sick of it in the end. Unless the user is utterly clueless, he's hardly likely to ask someone to fix a problem with a cracked copy of Windows... then again...

The point of my post was that CrystalXP itself is a perfectly legitimate customisation tool/group/community

Hate to annoy u even more Zeb, but the other guys are right...it is a cracked version cos I have one myself, which may I add was given to me by a mate of mine who seemed to have this passion of getting all these customised versions of XP (Spiderman version, Gladiator version and even one called XP Black Edition)...

And yes it is also a customised version but its cracked as one doesnt need to enter the serial key for it and its been made to bypass any WGA stuff and that. Mind you I only installed it once and found it to be a pain so I removed it about a day later...didnt see much joy in it...the upside was it came with the likes of Office 2007 built into it so one didnt have to install it seperately...and a whole host of other programs...and you also have the option to choose what programs you can install and what you dont want...

But there you go I guess we can safely say "All bets are off"
