I have a user at work who, whenever they print a certain type of document (namely a press release) it comes out with the whole document underlined and with a vertical line about an inche from the left hand edge of the page, the user has emailed me the file and it prints fine for me which made me think that it was a printer problem, the drivers are the most upto date, I have deleted and re-installed the printer, no-one else in the dept is having the same problems.......what gives????????????

This only happens with that one type of doc, the press release? All the user's other word docs come out fine? Is the press release doc some sort of template? Perhaps that's where you should start. Do other users print out press releases correctly?

Recalling your printer problem, have you already solved this one yet and just what to see what we'll say? (Just kidding you a bit, Derek).

No trip i have'nt solved this one yet, LOL

The file IS created from a template. I'm trying to go through a process of elimination, heres what i have got so far:

    1. Problem only SEEMS to be happening with the press releases.
    2. When the file was emailed to myself, it printed without any problems.
    3. Printer has been reinstalled with upto date drivers.
    4. This error only happened after the new machines were installed, which ran office 97, the new machines run office 2002.

The last one points me to the fact that it could be a compatability error between the 2 versions, my next step is to find out where the Templates are stored and have alook at that.

This may be overly simplistic or just plain wrong, but would one possible answer be to recreate the template using 2002?

Just had an email from the user experiencing the above problems, I asked her earlier to get someone else in the office to print a document to the same printer as the one she orints to to see what the results would be.

    The Plot Thickens
