OK guy's, just a quick post, But I just got an offer for a job that I applied for months ago. Been a long process, and I didn't think I would get it. Basicly working in the IT department for a big multi-national company. Excellent money and benifits.

Goin to sign the written offer/contract tomorrow. More details then/later on tonight.

Signed the contract yesterday, and I start the 2nd of May. I'll be working for Exxon Mobile, supporting end users for all of North America. Mainly by phone and remotely, so unfourtunatly no hands on stuff. The shifts run 24/7 365, so I've got to get used to that fact.

Sounds like it will be interesting, 1 week orientation, and then 6 weeks training. I think that this is due to the fact that I will be supporting just about every piece of commercial software available that has a business use. For example, i will be supporting at least 12 different remote access technologies. They have a combination of MS and Open Source platforms, and a huge library/Knowledge base for me to read when i'm not on a call. I will also be supprting 250-300 custom In-house
programs

Basicly, a great chance to learn tons, work hard, and get some more experience!! It's just 1 year contract for now, but everyone has a pretty decent chance at getting hired on full time.

I'll keep you posted.

YUp, sure is. I don't think that they expect me to know all of them by heart lol, I just need to be familiar, and know where to find the information on the ones that i don't really know. They are a company that believe's in constant trainning, and of course this is gonna be a big part of the job.

Can't wait to get stuck in, although with the amount of extra reading I'm gonna be doing at/after work, this may delay the MCSE.

 

Well you don't know punkboy, untill you get your hands on the material some of this stuff may help you toward MCSE. Stay postive. And if doesn't well you have a job and your getting exp. That a big plusssssss. Plus when you start to learn your job then you will have time to study. All I see is a win/win situation
