yeah what a boring day its been!

 

I'm only just recovered from my anexity attacks!!

 

I could see people 'logged on' in the root of CF, just as I could see myself 'logged on'. We must have all been in the same boat... so near and yet so far... lmao.

Oh well... panic over.

 

As long as this has been down I thought it was the ISP for the hotel I'm staying at right now. (I went to a conference with my wife for this week.) These guys are overselling their bandwidth so badly that I get latencies in the 800 ms range and average between 5 and 10% dropped packets when pinging a site such as yahoo.com for 5 minutes at 5:30 in the morning.

I think they active interfere with any kind of downloads too as I tried to download a file yesterday at 2 in the afternoon and it took me more than 35 minutes to download 2 mB. It would download 3 or 4 packets and stop for 30 seconds to a minute, download 3 or 4 more, stall out again, and so on. I've never seen this poor of service before. The Red Lion is flat out getting ripped off as when I complained they gave me the 800 number for Air2Data and told me they are actively searching for a new provider.

And here I thought I'd be able to work remotely all week.....

 

Well it certainly is nice to have CF back online.

 

My home has been without DSL for the better part of the day. The missus has been complaining that our ISP is lousy for a long time now, and I'm at the point of agreeing with her (especially, if she'll let me buy a faster broadband speed).

 

How on earth did you manage to get your wife to go with you???

Gawd... if mine went with me, I'd never get to see the conference. I'd be getting dragged along to go shopping.

 

Forget the TV. I am not sure if I could do without Broadband anymore. I get all my news from the Internet, buy most of my books and music off of it... I'd be lost.

 

I bet someone just wanted to interfere with my 10K date... rogues!!!

Same here DS - thought I'd been naughty and been hit with the ban stick Work is boring enough as it is without having the forum to keep me amused

 

Ummm..... I said I went with her. It was about a 300 mile drive to the conference and her employer was willing to pay for me to go along, so I went. She's the one off at meetings. I just thought I'd go along to humor her and work from the hotel room during the day. Only problem is I didn't have a clue as to how bad the internet access is here. It's actually worse than dialup.

 

Time to hit the Starbucks mate

 

LOL. By the time I'd get through working at a Starbucks I wouldn't be able to sleep for a week from all that caffeine....

 

Ah... that puts a different perspective on things... And you get to go for free... blimey!

That's the thing... you don't realise how bad dial-up really was until you have to go back to it. I use 3G off and on. The 3G speeds are good, but the GPRS speeds... well, you may as well post a letter rather than email.

 

Well I didnt mean necessarily drink the crap but they do offer WiFi

 

I tend to think they would kick me out for not buying anything after an hour or so, let alone 7 or 8 hours. And, there have been a few people busted for stealing wireless because they were sitting outside a Starbucks and using their wireless in the last few months. I'd hate to get busted for something like that.
