Arthur is reviewing several terms common to describing WLANs before giving a presentation to his networking class tomorrow. He has gone over the terms “gateway”, “access point”, and “bridge” but has forgotten the exact definition of one term. Why is an access point considered a “portal”? Choose the best single answer from those listed below.

    A. An access point allows client connectivity from an 802.11 network to either an 802.3 or an 802.5 network.
    B. An access point always allows the user to connect to the Internet.
    C. An access point connects two or more WLAN client devices.
    D. An access point connects two or more collision domains.

    Answer later.

Fortunately for you Gav, the piper happened to be right. Answer is A. An AP is a portal because it allows different networks based on different standards to connect. Well done all. More later.
