I recently reinstalled Windows XP Professional and now when I boot up my computer it displays a black screen asking me to Start Windows XP Professional by pressing Enter. I want my computer to boot directly to Windows, Windows is running fine but I get this black screen everytime I boot up my computer. Does anyone have any information as to why and how to stop it.

    Thank you,

    Professor Falken

Something to do with the boot.ini file perhaps?

Yeah as Sparky said, it's something with your boot.ini file. You can edit it by going to System - Advanced tab, there you will see Startup & Recovery section you have to click Settings just look around there you will see some options about your solution.

    * You have to choose your default operating system.
    * Uncheck the "Time to display the list of operating systems:"

If those two up what I gave aren't the solution, than you have to enter to Edit your boot.ini file manually (if you do not know how to do it ask, I will help you!).

Not trying to be funny but you have the A+ cert... all suggestions mentioned here (including google :biggrin  ) are covered quite a bit in that exam - what does this post say about not knowing the material???? :ohmy

I'm with the others - boot.ini - something worth looking at to start with.
If you have already, then my apologies for posting above, but if not.......... :x
