    Hi All

I'm surprised we've not been discussing this on here. The major update to Windows 8 that it is rumored, will put the start bar or similar back into Windows 8 among other things.

BBC News - Windows 8 update public preview to be released in June

Coke? Windows 8 is Microsoft's 'Vista moment'. Again ? The Register

I think its good that Microsoft listen to their customers. I would always welcome back the Start button as I think sometimes you can have change for changes sake. I'm very much a "if it aint broke...." type of guy.

Just wondered what you thought of this update?

Is it too little, too late though?

Is it because they have realised how unsatisfying it is with a keyboard and mouse, or that they they haven't made a proper dent in the fondleslab sales, and now need to backtrack to keep their core customers happy?

I'm sorry to air this out and I'm slightly embarrassed to say it.... but I dont actually miss the start bar at all. I LIKE WINDOWS 8, there I said it.... that feels good. I've had it running on mine and my wifes laptops for some time now and I'm really liking it.

Once I discovered I could search and launch a programme by just typing on the metro (sic) screen without having to go to the search bit on the right hand side which was my only grumble with it until then.

I've got to be honest and say I've never used Windows 8 :S Does it have the same minute bottom left area to click that Server 2012 has? If it has I find this ridiculous to be honest and quite a pain when I'm running a 2012 VM where I can move my mouse outside of the console so miss this tiny bottom left click space, if that makes sense, I'm not great on the new terminology for the charms etc I fix things (grunt ha ha)

I'm running windows 8 both at work and at home. I'm pretty pleased with it and don't miss the start menu at all to be honest. Those of my clients who have made the jump have had very little to complain about, once past the culture shock anyway
