Why are you taking the MCDST?

Is it for a change of career?

    Is it for the money?

    Is it for recognition?

Is it for advancing in your career?

Is it for representing the knowledge that you already have with a Title?

Is it just for the fun of it?

I'm, lucky. I already have a great job and am happy with my salary. I'm doing it because i've been in IT for only three years and although I have secured a good first/second (and occasionally third) line engineer position, my knowledge has gaps in it that sometimes show through. I want a thorough understanding of the basics...

    Ps,

Anyone got the MS press books for 20-272? I have just done the readiness review suite to see how I measure up before studying for the exam. I only got 50%. Had better get into it as exam is in August!!

For two reasons, one being that now that i have got into it these are tasks i do on a daily basis (direct quote from unknown source! :biggrin ) and two its an elective for MCSA. I was ready to look at another MS exam but then my unknown source suggested i do MCDST as it would be easier than an exam because i already know alot of the stuff...

I might do it just for the hell of it, as I have two vouchers that I can use for either the MCDST or a couple of exams toward the MCSE:Security.

Heh! Someone had to say it I suppose!

Was looking at your profile. How's the new job? Sounds like you're where I should have been 5 yrs ago!! I hope it's alright. Is it a big company? I've moved from a big coporate company into a small one cos despite what they say about the big companies, there was no support/ training at my last one!!

I agree with this. I believe the company i'm working for will want me to take the MCDST and since i do this from day to day i might as well get a piece of paper for it. :)

Something i want to add now that i have done 271 and 270 is that the MCDST should be done as a stepping stone to MCSA/MCSE... it will give you a good foundation to build on for 270 and gives you a feel of MS's exams...
