I know Microsoft often include full PDFs with their textbooks. And Apress allow you to but an ebook version for $10 if you have the print edition and can answer a random question on the book (http://apress.com/promotion/tendollar/ if you don't know :))

Does anyone know of other publishers who offer an ebook for free / heavily discounted rate?

I like an ebook to read on the train, but it's good to have a hard copy at work for reference. Plus I really hate buying ebooks for almost the cover price of the hardcopy (or even more when you look at the play / amazon seller prices).

    Any pointers appreciated.

    Thanks Simon,

I think that Sams only offer a free online edition via the safari library (an ebookshelf, not the browser, for those unfamiliar). It's only valid for 45 days - I'm guessing you can't download a PDF - or am I mistaken?

    Regards

I bought a couple from Syngress in the past. Preplogic do .pdf's for their study things.

All publishers should allow you to download an electronic version if you buy the hard copy. It's a shame most don't do this.

The McGraw-hill books I bought recently also had the PDF versions with them.

Agreed, both the McGraw Network+ All in One and the A+ and Passport version had the PDF's included, although humoursly the two PDF's on the AiO's work fine on Reader/Foxit on the laptop but open with corrupted text in either GoodReader/Stanza on the iPad.

Also the Sybex Network+ guides had the PDFs in, can't comment about others in the range though.
