I'm looking to add an Exchange MCP to my collection. These are the 3 i've found, the 285 looks more like designing so it leaves the 284 and 236 which is 2003 and 2007. Do i go straight for the 2007 or would it be best to cover 2003 as well ?

If you have the option, why not do both?

There will still be people using Exchange 2003 for a while, and there will be people using 2007 too. I know that where i am, we are not planning on upgrading to Exchange 2007 in the next few years.

I'd probably go for the 2003 version, as thats what we still use at my place... I cant see us upgrading anytime soon either..!

Which one do you use currently? I'd go with that. If not, like flounder10 said try both if you can although your brain may explode from Exchange overload!! :biggrin

MCSA/MCSE Self-Paced Training Kit (Exam 70-284): Implementing and Managing Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 by Will Willis and Ian McLean. And for quick references when you must have been through with the MSpress material; Sams Teach Yourself Exchange Server 2003 in 10 Minutes by James V. Walker. I find the latter a very handy book even when on the field...

NB: what they all said. Exchange 2003 is still very much around so i guess that should be your launch pad. Just a thought though...

I guess it depends on where your experience lies. If you have experience of Managing Exchange 2003 focus on exam 70-284...if its Exchange 2007 go for 70-236 (not an easy one in my opinion!) Also not easy to learn the Powershell commands that 70-236 test you on unless you have some hands on experience.

Does anyone know if 70-236 counts towards 1 elective on the MCSA 2003 track in place of 70-284?

Good luck whichever one you decide on!
