I'm about to start revising for my A+ exam. The current material out there is aimed towards the 601 (and that series). The new 2009 syllabus appears to be out soon, with books hitting the shelfs around october & november. I don't really want to wait that long before I begin to revise. On the other hand I don't want to start revising now and feel rushed to take my test before then new exam becomes compulsory.

I have a fairly sound knowledge of computing and would be able to push around 10 hours of revision a week.

Whats the crossover period that Comptia give people to finish taking the A+ exam?
What would you suggest if you were in my position?

    Thanks in advance.

Hi, why not introduce yourself here and be a part of this community :)

As the new 2009 exams aren't out yet and you have fairly sound knowledge, I would say go for the 600 series.

Comptia normally gives anywhere from 3 to 6 months of cross over time.

the current exam series doesn't end till January 2010 and it doesn't matter which you go for as compTIA certs are for life.

    Thanks for your reply :biggrin

Does the syllabus change a great deal? I would imagine that a large proportion would remain unaltered, therefore if I did miss out on the 600 series then I would have a very strong foundation of the 700 series.

no it doesn't change a great deal it will contain newer technologies than the last version like Vista and maybe a bit more on BLU RAY and things like that.
