I already alerted aj to it. It is just something you have to live it unless you want to shut the site down to new users. We had to a couple of times at TU because of it. I really hope there is a spam hell out there somewhere just waiting for the lowlifes.

Yup I binned and banned that sucker right out of CF.

I think spam is something that we all have to live with. As Mitzs suggested, the only way is to stop new members from signing up. CF is resonably lucky, because when you see how much traffic the site gets, the amount of spam postings are fairly small. The mod staff do a great job of dealing with the rubbish, and getting it of the boards ASAP and my thanks go out to them.

The best way of dealing with this stuff is really to ignore it. If someone sees it and reports it and then posts to say they have reported it as spam to the mods, there really is no reason to carry on replying to it. All you are doing is keeping a spam post on the top of the pile and that is exactly where a spammer wants it to be.

I cant say i had noticed any spam here.

but one way to stop it or minimise it more. is what they do on the remote-expl0it forums. when you sign up you can only post in the n00b area for 3 or 5 days i cant remember now and then you are aloud to post in the other sections after the time limt.

or do as they do on netstumbler not let you post for 3 days. then the spammers sign up cant post and wander off and forget about it. whereas the real people signup read the rules and lurk for 3 days then post.

but like i said i dont think spam is a problem here.

...and because it makes them enough money to be profitable doing so. If nobody bought the crap they're selling, spammers wouldn't spam. But enough people DO buy it. :dry
